Comox Valley RCMP say the driver of a vehicle that hit a five-year-old boy headed to school this week will not be charged.
The boy was struck about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday on Woods Avenue in Courtenay, and is expected to recover.
Const. Monika Terragni said carelessness, speed or impairment are not considered factors in the incident.
She said it should be noted the driver was following all the rules of the road, which “actually avoided a much more tragic outcome in this case.”
