When a man pulled over by West Shore RCMP opened his backpack to get his driver’s licence, he unintentionally revealed a large quantity of drugs.

Police say officers from the Drugs and Organized Crime Unit stopped the man June 20 in a Chevrolet truck on Adams Place in View Royal because it was linked to someone wanted for outstanding warrants.

A search of the man’s backpack revealed about 10 ounces of suspected cocaine, about five ounces of suspected methamphetamine and over $2,000 in cash.

Seized from inside the truck were bear mace, brass knuckles, a collapsible baton and several knives.

The 39-year-old, who turned out not be the person with the warrants, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
