Saanich police believe a medical issue could have caused a single-vehicle crash on Cordova Bay Road that toppled a power pole and sent a 62-year-old man to hospital.

A southbound pickup truck went off the road near Blenkinsop Road about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday and hit the pole, said Insp. Damian Kowalewich.

The man was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening.

Some homes in the area lost power and a portion of the road was closed while B.C. Hydro made repairs, Kowalewich said.
