The driver of a pickup truck has died after a head-on collision with a dump truck near Port Hardy.

RCMP Cpl. Alex Bérubé said police were called to Highway 19 at the 395-kilometre marker south of Port Hardy on Friday after recieving a report of a head-on collision.

The initial evidence suggests a northbound brown Ford F350 collided with a green dump truck travelling in the other direction, Bérubé said in a statement.
