Bus priority lanes on Douglas Street are now complete between Fisgard Street and the Burnside Road overpass.

A new southbound section of bus lane on Douglas Street has been completed, meaning dedicated lanes are in place in both directions from Fisgard Street to the Burnside Road overpass on the Trans-Canada Highway.

The improved bus corridor is 4.4 kilometres long, while the newly completed section stretching from Tolmie Avenue to the Burnside area is 2.3 kilometres.

Bus passengers travelling on the Douglas Street route are expected to save 10 minutes during peak travel times with normal traffic volumes.

Bus ridership is currently down 70 per cent from last year and there are fewer buses on the road as schools and workplaces shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
