Phyllis passed away peacefully at the age of 104. Predeceased by husband Harold, sisters Patricia (Charles), Margaret (Andrew), Blanche, brother Cecil [Jim] (Olive) and grandson Steve. She is survived by her son Morley (Marilyn), grandchildren Tanya (John), Carolyn (Trevor), Kathryn, great grandchildren Jasmine, David, Max, Mya, Sydney, Daniel and Leah plus numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her niece Linda (Bob), their family and to Oak Bay Lodge.
Graveside service to be held at Royal Oak Cemetery 1:00pm Friday, August 10th. In lieu of flowers donations gratefully appreciated to the "School Safety Program For Kids in the Know", 615 Academy Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3N 0E7.
MOORE, Elizabeth (Betty)
Died peacefully August 4, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Widow of Dr. Claude Moore, mother of two daughters Marny Woloshyn and Grace Whittaker; sister of Boyd Ferris. A thoughtful, considerate and gentle person, she will be greatly missed.
EVANS, Rose Marie (Drewry)
Died peacefully at home on Thursday, August 2, 2012. Born in Herschel, Saskatchewan on November 24, 1923. Predeceased by her beloved husband Albie in 1999. Mom left us on her own terms and will be sorely missed by son, Ian (Bev) of Cobble Hill; daughter, Jennifer Garandza (Rocky); grandchildren: Nick (Kim), Jodi (Jermaine) and Kyle; great grandchildren: Mylyn and Vienna; brothers, Neil Drewry of Victoria and Bruce Drewry of Clinton, BC; brother-in-law, Harry Evans of Coquitlam and sister-in-law, Darline Smith; dearest friend of 68 years, Lorraine Cotton of Oliver, BC and many nieces and nephews of whom she was extremely fond. Predeceased by her brother Lyle Drewry (1980) and sisters, Jean Kitto (1988), Ruth Larsen (2000) and Helen Hollick (2002). Mom moved to Victoria from Saskatchewan in 1941 where she worked in the credit office at the Hudson's Bay Company. In 1943 she enrolled in the nursing program at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. After graduating in 1946, mom worked as a registered nurse for Medical Services at the University of Victoria. On June 30, 1950 she married Albie and moved into their home in Victoria where they lived out their life. Mom shared her love of flowers and plants with everyone and knew their names in both English and Latin. She was a voracious reader which took her to many places in the world when she was no longer able to travel. Mom was an avid curler who was instrumental in the curling program when the Oak Bay Recreation Centre opened. Her love of watching Fastpitch Softball filled her summers with enjoyment. Many organizations were fortunate to have mom volunteer for them, with the latest being a Sendial Volunteer when she was 77 and "shopped for the old people". One of mom's many passions in life was to contribute to her wish for world peace and she was a real humanitarian. It is with heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kevin Wylie and his staff , and caregivers from Nurse Next Door and especially Ruby and Mae Anne that mom is now in a "Peaceful, Perfect Place" with dad. She was a remarkable woman.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Memorial Chapel, 4725 Falaise Drive on Saturday, August 11th at 10:00 am. Mom would have wanted everyone to wear bright and cheerful colours, just like her garden. If desired, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or the Victoria Hospice Society, 1952 Bay St., Victoria, BC, V8R 1J8.
