A 55-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries Sunday after he was struck by a car at the intersection of the Island Highway and Burnside Road West.
West Shore RCMP were alerted about 4:45 p.m. and responded with paramedics.
The 21-year-old man who was driving stayed at the scene and is co-operating with police.
Burnside Road West’s eastbound lanes were shut down for several hours while police, including a collision reconstructionist, investigated the scene.
Drug and alcohol impairment have been ruled out as contributing factors.
