[UPDATED] The death of a Sooke woman who lost control of her all-terrain vehicle on Friday is being investigated by the B.C. Coroners Service.
The 58-year-old Otter Point resident was found severely injured on a trail in the 2000-block of King Road in Otter Point on Friday around 9 p.m., according to police.
She left her house and was driving to a friend’s home who lived nearby, but when she didn’t arrive, the friend went looking for her, said Barb McLintock, spokeswoman for B.C. Coroners Service.
The woman was wearing a helmet and was familiar with driving the quad, but she may have lost control because the ground was frozen, according to an early assessment by the coroner.
“There wasn’t ice on the ground or anything, but it may have been tricky because it was hard and frozen,” McLintock said.
Emergency responders tried to revive the woman, according to Sooke RCMP, but were unsuccessful.
