The Chinese consul-general in Vancouver visited Victoria and Nanaimo in a two-day tour last week.

Consul-General Yang Shu, along with a team from his office, provided visa, passport and Chinese pension services and support to close to 70 people from Nov. 21 to 22.

China’s Vancouver consulate said in a statement that Yang hopes to continue to provide support and “do good works” for Chinese international students and the Chinese diaspora on Vancouver Island.

It’s the third publicized visit that consul-general Yang Shu has made to Vancouver Island since he was appointed to his position in September 2022.

In January, he met with Victoria Mayor Marianne Alto regarding China-Victoria trade and investment relations, educational ties and possibilities for further co-operation, according to a readout from the consul-general’s office following the visit.
