The service and sacrifice of thousands of Canadians will be commemorated in Victoria and Sooke on Sunday at a parade and ceremonies marking the 77th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic.

The ceremonies pay tribute to members of Canada’s Merchant Navy, the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal Canadian Air Force, who all played a key role in the Allied efforts.

The Battle of the Atlantic (1939 to 1945), was the longest continuous battle of the Second World War, one in which Canada played a major role.
