[Update: The victim is in critical condition in Victoria General Hospital]
A 55-year-old Central Saanich man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after his motorcycle was hit from behind by an SUV in Victoria today.
The crash happened 7:45 a.m. in the parking lot of Ogden Point , where cruise ships dock along Dallas Road.
Both vehicles were headed north and witnesses said the SUV was speeding before hitting the back of the motorcycle, police said.
The crash scene shows the motorcycle in pieces strewn across the pavement.
Victoria police and B.C. Ambulance Service were on scene quickly after multiple 911 calls were received, police said.
Police have cordoned off the crash site but there are no street closures.
“The investigators are looking into whether speed or impairment are factors in the collision” police said.
