A candidate who ran for a seat on the Salt Spring Island local community commission in May has been disqualified from seeking office until after the 2026 general election.

Elections B.C. says Negma Guermoudi failed to file a financial disclosure statement or supplementary report by the late filing deadline of Sept. 25.

The vote to elect the four commissioners to the newly established commission was held May 27.

Other candidates disqualified from running until after the 2026 election include J. Charles Lamb, who ran for Saanich School District, as well as Brian Klassen and Shea Smith, who ran for council in Victoria.
