Body's discovery leads to drug seizure

A police search followed a call to a remote area outside the city on Feb. 8 after a body was found.

The search turned up weapons, scales, about 150 grams of suspected cocaine and over 1,400 pills believed to be Dilaudid, say Campbell River RCMP.

Campbell River RCMP say they found weapons and evidence of drug trafficking while carrying out a search warrant linked to the discovery of a body.

The Wednesday search came after police were called to a remote area outside the city on Feb. 8 when a body was found.

In addition to weapons, the search turned up scales, about 150 grams of suspected cocaine and over 1,400 pills believed to be Dilaudid.

The investigation is ongoing and police are working to determine if charges will be laid.

The drugs will be sent to Health Canada for analysis.
