Bicycle tracks left in the snow helped Port Alberni RCMP find a suspect on Friday.

Police responded about 5:10 a.m. to a call about a man on a bicycle checking vehicle doors.

As one officer was locating the suspect, another followed the bike tracks and arrived at the same spot.

“It was the snow and the call that was made that allowed us to track this guy down,” said Const. Shelly Schedewitz.

A 38-year-old Port Alberni man was arrested and taken into police custody. Charges are pending, police said.
