It took less than 24 hours for Victoria police to nab an interprovincial fugitive after getting the heads-up from their Calgary counterparts.

Kodi Hemeon-Graham, 24, was wanted after disappearing on the day he was to appear in court in Alberta. Warrants issued for him throughout Western Canada related to such offences as weapons charges and home invasion.

An investigation led Victoria police to an address near Johnson and Quadra streets Wednesday afternoon. Surveillance revealed a man matching Hemeon-Graham’s description.

He was arrested by the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team and will be returned to Calgary in a few days.

After the arrest, the residence where Hemeon-Graham had been staying was searched and almost $4,000 was found, along with a small amount of cocaine and two prohibited weapons.

“This goes to show, if you run and try to hide out, we’ll find you and send you home,” said Const. Chris Gillespie of the Focused Enforcement Team.

“There is no vacation from justice here.”
