Accent Inns chief executive to speak at Royal Roads University convocation

Ceremonies scheduled for Thursday and Friday

Two notable alumni will speak during the 53rd convocation ceremonies at Royal Roads University on Thursday and Friday.

Accent Inns chief executive Mandy Farmer and Fraser Health executive Heather Lynch will address students, while an honorary doctorate of laws will be presented to Andrea A. Davis, a professor of Black Cultures of the Americas at York University.

Davis is also giving a presentation on campus Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Grant Building as part of the university’s Changemakers Speakers Series, on “Indigenous, Black and Other Solidarities.”

Close to 700 students are taking part in the ceremonies at Royal Roads’ Dogwood Auditorium.

Receiving the Governor General’s Gold Medal will be Teresa Forster, graduating with a master’s degree in leadership, with the Governor General’s Silver Medal going to Caitlin Bingham, who earned a bachelor of arts degree in environmental practice.

Ceremonies will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. and noon, and Friday at 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m.
