The Mustard Seed Street Church needs volunteers to assist distributing 700 educational kits to families accessing the Fair Start for Kids program. Volunteers are needed from Aug. 7-24. Sendial Volunteer Shopping Program (Thrifty Foods): This program does the shopping for customers who, because of injury, frailty or other physical reason, can’t easily shop independently. Seeking kind and caring phoning volunteers — James Bay and Tuscany Village locations. Customers are called weekly to complete grocery orders. The Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria is looking for English class teacher’s assistant adult volunteers to provide language support to newcomer immigrants enrolled in ICA English language classes. Under the direction of teaching staff, assist adult learners in the areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Requirements: advanced English language skills. Our Place serves 1,350 snacks a day, seven days a week, to those in need. It takes a lot of volunteer power to keep this important service running. Will you join our nutrition bar team? Pacific Women’s Day is the annual conference for women in the defence community. It takes place on Nov. 24, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at Royal Roads University and consists of workshops, a keynote speaker and engaging activities.
