Come join us as a volunteer at the inaugural Oaklands Street Party on Sunday, May 15. Held in conjunction with the annual Neighbourhood-Wide Garage Sale, this event is a celebration of family, friends, neighbours and all things Oaklands. We need volunteers to help set up the event, run activities and stations and take it down. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a variety of volunteer shifts are available between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Call Anna at 250-370-9102 for more information.

Baptist Housing, which provides homes and care to seniors, is looking for volunteers to serve at The Heights at Mount View Residence at 3814 Carey Rd. Volunteer opportunities include: greeters, community hosts, resident companions, activity support volunteers, spiritual care volunteers and more. World Fisheries Trust is searching for dedicated volunteers to run the weekend public hours of the Gorge Waterway Nature House. This position involves providing assistance and information about the local area and numerous displays and activities within the Nature House. No experience required, although interpersonal skills and familiarity with the area are assets. Email [email protected] to apply.

Parks Canada is looking for enthusiastic musician volunteers to play music and campfire songs during weekly family campfire programs at McDonald Campground in Sidney (Gulf Islands National Park Reserve). Any instrument is welcome, as are beginner musicians. The program runs every Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m., July 2 to Aug. 26. Volunteers are welcome to commit to one or multiple evenings. Recreation Integration Victoria is seeking volunteer leisure assistants. As a leisure assistant, you will be matched with a person with a disability to provide help and companionship in leisure or recreational activities. Your match is chosen based on your interests. We ask volunteers for a minimum commitment of two months, with assistants usually volunteering one to two hours per week. Lifetime Networks is seeking a network friend for a young man in his mid-20s with disabilities. He is a friendly, pleasant young man with a great sense of humour. He is interested in furthering his fitness goals and would like someone to spend time with him working out in the gym, going swimming, and going for walks and hikes. His other interests include going to movies, going to events in the community and learning to take the bus. He would appreciate someone with a sense of humour who likes to joke around and who is as easy-going as he is.
