The Langham Court Theatre, the oldest community theatre in Western Canada, celebrates its 84th season this year - but it is also saying goodbye to its head scenic carpenter, Bill Adams, who is retiring after 15 seasons. The search is on for a new head carpenter, and Bill will mentor the successful volunteer until March 2013. Can you fill Bill's shoes? If you have carpentry experience, including design, drafting, furniture building and theatre set construction, this could be the role for you. Supervisory skills, including ordering materials, scheduling and overseeing production, are required. Experience in faux painting, backgrounds and murals would put you above the rest. The commitment is about 100 to 126 hours per show, usually completed Monday to Friday in the mornings. The volunteer receives a per-show honorarium. This is a great role for a retiree seeking creative work in the world of theatre. Please call 250-384-2142.
