The Victoria Highlanders will be bringing back seven players from the 2013 squad that captured the United Soccer League Premier Development League’s Western Conference title and made it to the PDL Final Four.

All seven returnees announced Thursday played the CIS season for the University of Victoria Vikes — goalkeeper Elliot Mitrou, defenders Adam Ravenhill and Gavin Barrett and midfielders Craig Gorman, Sam Prette, Andrew Ravenhill and Cameron Stokes.

Mitrou was a first-team CIS all-Canadian this past season and Andrew Ravenhill and Barrett CIS second-team all-Canadians. Stokes tied for the Vikes scoring lead with 11 goals.

“One of the goals coming into this season is to maintain consistency and familiarity from last year,” Highlanders head coach Steve Simonson said in a statement. “The Vikes players obviously have a great familiarity with each other.”

The Highlanders open the 2014 PDL season at home May 4 against the Vancouver Whitecaps U-23.
