What was Victoria like 150 years ago? Find out at the Victoria in 1862 symposium this weekend, hosted by the Victoria Historical Society.

The two-day event features historians presenting a range of talks on Victoria in 1862, with topics ranging from First Nations, to transportation and breweries and saloons.

Attendees will also be treated to a tour of Ross Bay Cemetery by the Old Cemeteries Society of Victoria. A team of storytellers and actors will provide a glimpse of the life and times of Victoria in 1862.

The event costs $105 for the two days (lunch is included and a historically themed breakfast is planned).

It runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Oddfellows Hall, 1315 Douglas St. Registration is required.
