CHECK IT OUT

Shop globally to help locally tonight, as a local business that sells fairtrade items from developing countries donates 15 per cent of purchases toward community gardens in Saanich.

This fundraiser sees Ten Thousand Villages, a gift store at Broadmead Village, raising funds for the Saanich Allotment Garden Advocates, a non-profit society that helps fledgling gardening groups access funds and assistance toward the establishment of working gardens.

The group is currently working at two large gardens in Saanich - one on Agnes Street and the other across from the municipal fire hall near Uptown Centre. The group is endorsed by the Municipality of Saanich.

The fundraiser is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ten Thousand Villages, in the Broadmead Village Shopping Centre on Royal Oak Drive. Go to tenthousandvillages.ca.
