If you love Greek food, you're in luck - Greek Fest, the annual festival of everything Greek, begins Tuesday and runs until Sept. 3.
The festival, in its 11th year and the local Greek Community Society's largest annual fundraiser, offers an array of authentic Greek food, including desserts, baked goods and deli offerings. The event also includes a heritage exhibit, arts and crafts, live music and folk dancing by more than 25 groups.
Last year, 30,000 people attended the event. Proceeds benefit a hot lunch program in partnership with the Saanich Fire Department and the Tour de Rock.
Admission is free. The fest is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Greek Community Centre, 4648 Elk Lake Dr. (beside Saanich Commonwealth Place). Next Thursday is Seniors Day, with a 10 per cent discount on all food. For more information, go to greekfest.ca.
