The CRD has two guided walks this weekend for those who want to get as far away from the hustle and bustle of early Christmas shoppers as possible.

? Join a CRD Regional Parks naturalist and learn all about fungi in the forest on Saturday. Marvellous Mushrooms is geared toward the novice mushroom explorer.

The program is suitable for those five or older. Space is limited.

Pre-registration is required by Friday. Call 250-478-3344.

The program costs $7 plus HST.

There are two time slots: 10: 30 a.m. to noon, and 1 to 3: 30 p.m. on Saturday at Francis/King Regional Park, off Munn Road.

? The Iron Mine Bay Hike is an adults-only (18 and older) guided hike along the Anderson Cove trail to little-known Iron Mine Bay. This four-hour walk will be accompanied by a CRD Regional Parks naturalist.

The hike runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at East Sooke Regional Park. Meet at the information kiosk at the Pike Road parking lot off East Sooke Road. Wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather. Bring water and pack a lunch.

Arrive 10 minutes before the start of either program. Organizers ask hikers to please leave pets at home.
