Learn about local farming history, chefs, producers and historians as Don Genova, master of food culture, hosts B.C. Bites and Beverages: Bounty from the Harvest, the second session in the Royal B.C. Museum's food and drink series.

Tonight's casual evening of food history includes local farmers offering food samplings. Genova will talk about why much of the agricultural production on Vancouver Island disappeared - and how it is returning - with a more personal link between farmer and consumer.

Genova is known to share stories about the backgrounds of farmers and food artisans that are passionate about what they do. He teaches cooking and delivers courses in sustainable gastronomy as well as food and travel writing. He earned his master's degree in food culture from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy.

The session costs $35 plus HST for Royal B.C. Museum members, $40 plus HST for non-members. The event runs 7 to 9 tonight in the museum's Clifford Carl Hall, 675 Belleville St. For more information, go to royalbcmuseum.bc.ca.
