Eat soup, keep the bowl and help a good cause

Soup's on! And when local personalities start ladling it up at lunchtime on Tuesday, it will be for a great cause.

Souper Bowls of Hope, the annual charity founded by former Victoria city councillor Helen Hughes, is relocating to the Inn at Laurel Point for its 15th annual fundraiser, which has raised nearly $500,000 to date for the region's at-risk and street youths.

Guests pay $25 for soup and a handcrafted bowl they get to take home.

Also up for auction are many more bowls autographed by celebrities - who over the years have included Elton John, Selena Gomez and Michael Buble - along with hundreds of other items.

This year's celebrity signers include Andie MacDowell, Snoop Dog, David Foster, Bryan Adams and Jann Arden.

Souper Bowls of Hope takes place from 11 a.m. to 1: 30 p.m. Tuesday at 680 Montreal St.

Tickets are available at the door, from The Bay Centre's guest services, Ivy's Book Shop or by calling 250-383-3514.
