Victoria's less privileged can share in nature's bounty as organizations celebrate Thanksgiving with hot meals for everyone.

? Dodd's Furniture hosts its 14th annual Thanksgiving dinner on Monday. The furniture retailer's traditional way of giving thanks for his 35 years in business is by hosting a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings.

Between 800 and 1,000 people are expected to partake in the meal, which includes dessert and tea or coffee. The meal is free but people are encouraged to pick up tickets in advance at Our Place Society, 919 Pandora Ave.

Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Monday at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, at the corner of Douglas and Courtney streets.

? For those who can't wait until Monday, Our Place Society serves its community Thanksgiving meal today. More than 1,000 of Victoria's homeless and most vulnerable will be treated to an early turkey dinner with all the trimmings throughout the day.

"Thanksgiving is a special time to be grateful and be with loved ones. For many of the people we welcome, we're the closest family they have," said Don Evans, executive director of the society. "We want everyone to feel a sense of belonging and enjoy a great meal."

The community centre expects to serve 1,000 pounds of turkey, 500 pounds of potatoes, 250 pounds of stuffing, 200 pounds of vegetables, 25 gallons of gravy, 55 pounds of cranberry sauce, 125 pies and 1,500 cups of coffee. The meal is free. It will be available between 11: 30 a.m. to 2: 30 p.m. today at Our Place Society, 919 Pandora Ave.
