Craft show first of season

The first major Christmas craft fair of the season, the aptly named First Chance Christmas Craft Fair, premières this weekend at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney.

The first major Christmas craft fair of the season, the aptly named First Chance Christmas Craft Fair, premières this weekend at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney.

Organizers say people will be able to browse more than 25 categories of West Coast hand-crafted items created by local artists and artisans.

Items on offer include recycled fashions, forged metal sculptures, exquisite textiles, hand-thrown ceramics, cosy felted hats and handcrafted sterling silver jewelry by local designers.

Admission for the two-day event is $3 for adults and free for adult-supervised children under 12.

The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Mary Winspear Centre is at 2243 Beacon Ave. in Sidney.
