Check out a living book this Saturday as the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria and the Greater Victoria Public Library join forces to host The Human Library Project.

People will be able to check out a diverse range of people who make themselves available for informal 20 minute conversations at the Central Branch of the library and at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.

Reflecting the unique, creative - and sometimes controversial - individuals that shape the fabric of our community, the "living books" come from a variety of fields.

At the art gallery, living books available will include a city planner and a Buddhist nun.

Readers at the Central Branch of the library will find an urban farmer, police officer and a singer-songwriter.

Participation is free but pre-registration is required. The event runs 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the GVPL's Central Branch at 735 Broughton Street and at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, 1040 Moss Street.
