Art gallery hosts market

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria kicks off December with its first Christmas Makers Market tonight. The event features works by 20 local artists and artisans, including jewelry, pottery, food, Christmas decor and fibre art.

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria kicks off December with its first Christmas Makers Market tonight. The event features works by 20 local artists and artisans, including jewelry, pottery, food, Christmas decor and fibre art.

Music, light refreshments and a silent auction are all part of the evening's festivities. Admission is by donation. The event runs 5 to 9 p.m. in the Spencer Mansion.

Check out the Christmas Small Works Show and Sale in the historic Massey Gallery. The exhibition features works by many Vancouver Island artists, with prices ranging from $100 to $150. The show and sale runs until Jan. 8.

On Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., the gallery partners with the UJAM Jazz Society to present the UJAM All Stars - young artists performing holiday music and jazz standards for gallery goers.
