Written by Virginia horticulturist and author Nancy Ross Hugo and photographer Robert Llewellyn, the 230-page hardback examines beloved trees such as white oak, southern magnolia, white pine and tulip poplar, and showcases little-noticed characteristics - catkins, male and female flowers and bracts - that depict the seasonal miracles of nature. The book, published by Timber Press, costs $30.
