This year's Rock the Shores festival is set for July 13-15 at the West Shore Parks and Recreation Lower Fields.

Colwood music festival Rock the Shores will return to the stage this summer with sets from Brian Wilson, Social Distortion, Bahamas and X Ambassadors, among others.

The popular festival, which is set for July 13-15 at the West Shore Parks and Recreation Lower Fields, went into hiatus following its 2016 edition. The return engagement of Rock the Shores will be staged at the site of the previous five editions, which drew 12,500 fans during its 2012 launch. Acts who have appeared at the festival include the Tragically Hip, the Black Keys, Jane’s Addiction, Tom Cochrane and the Cult.

This year, the site is capable of holding 10,000 fans of all ages, according to co-producer Nick Blasko of Atomique Productions.

“It’s all the more meaningful coming back this year, having had to postpone it last year. It gave us a chance to catch our breath, and recalibrate what was working and what wasn’t — and play to our strengths.”

Joining the roster that includes Wilson (the Beach Boys co-founder) and rock veterans Social Distortion are Juliette and the Licks, the Sheepdogs, Corb Lund, Jesse Roper, Dear Rouge, Allen Stone, Bedouin Soundclash, Felix Cartal and Frazey Ford.

Reserved seating is being offered for the first time, and parking amenities have been greatly expanded, Blasko said. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by adults.

Tickets are available online at rocktheshores.com and in person at West Shore Parks and Recreation (1767 Island Highway, 250-478-8384) and Lyle’s Place (770 Yates St., 250-382-8422).
