A pair of acclaimed singer-songwriters from Victoria has finished among the top five in Vancouver's annual PEAK Performance Project.

Jean-Paul Maurice (who won $10,000) and Mike Edel ($5,000) placed fourth and fifth in the contest, which aids in the development of emerging B.C. musicians. Other performers from Vancouver Island named to the Top 20 were Alexandria Maillot and Georgia Murray.

The contest continues through November with a trio of Vancouver acts (Dear Rouge, Dominique Frico and Jordan Klassen) competing for top prize. The Peak Performance project ends Nov. 22 at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver.

At last year's Peak Performance Project, popular Victoria band Current Swell took the top prize and $100,500 in artist-development funding.
