Vancouver Island Sympony's Symphony from your Sofa

Nanaimo’s Vancouver Island Symphony will celebrate its 26th season of concerts with a combination of online and in-person events, including concerts streamed for audiences at the Port Theatre in Nanaimo, the Tidemark Theatre in Campbell River and the Sid Williams Theatre in Courtenay.

All events presented in 2020-21 under the Symphony From Your Sofa series will be available as both streaming concerts (for those watching at home) and in-person concerts for 50 people (for those watching live in the theatres). The six one-hour concerts will include music by Franz Schubert, Antonín Dvořák, Johann Strauss, Claude Debussy, Ludwig van Beethoven and Johannes Brahms, among others.

The symphony is also offering a four-part Sunday Brunch Series that was recorded live during socially distanced events over the summer. Music from Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will be livestreamed during four afternoons between Oct. 4 and Nov. 22.
