The 29th Victoria Film Festival launches in February

The event kicks off Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Vic Theatre, 808 Douglas St., with Emily as the opening film.

This year’s Victoria Film Festival is running Feb. 3 to 12 at a variety of locations downtown.

The event kicks off Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Vic Theatre, 808 Douglas St., with Emily as the opening film. Directed by Frances O’Connor, the film focuses on Wuthering Heights author Emily Bronte.

Films presented originate from around the globe, from Canada and the U.S. to the U.K., Australia, Denmark, Estonia, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, India, Romania, Switzerland, Ukraine and Spain.

Several local restaurants have arranged set menus for film-goers.

Tickets can be purchased online. Advance tickets are available until Feb. 11.

A single ticket is $13.33 but passes and packages are also available.
