Lake Cowichan will be rocking this summer as Portugal the Man, Shaggy, Third Eye Blind, Aqua and others are set to perform June 30-July 2 at Laketown Shakedown.

“We’re focused on creating a good time for various ages by targeting some international stars who haven’t been here before, or haven’t been here much at all,” said festival manager Mike Hann.

Third Eye Blind will headline June 30, with support from Reignwolf, Bif Naked, and Son Real, while Portugal the Man (July 1) will be joined by Everlast Presents: Whitey Ford’s House of Pain, K’Naan, and Rêve. The event closes July 2 with a mainstage line-up of Shaggy, Aqua, Classified, and DJ Shub.

“We’re balancing nostalgic acts like Shaggy and Aqua with iconic Canadian acts like K’Naan, who hasn’t been active in a longtime but was once the biggest hip-hop act in Canada,” Hann said. “We also want to give some up-and-coming acts like Rêve a shot as well, as she just won a Juno Award for dance recording of the year.”

The three-night, two-day day rock, pop, and hip-hop festival staged a comeback in 2022, with a line-up that brought Wu-Tang Clan, Arkells, The Glorious Sons, and Sugar Ray to Laketown Ranch Music and Recreation Park. The festival had been dormant for two years prior due to COVID-19 concerns.

Laketown Shakedown can host up to 10,000 people on the 250-acre site, which gives the Wideglide Entertainment event one of the biggest footprints in the province. Three stages will be enacted for the upcoming event, with additional performances by The Boom Booms, Busty and the Bass, SonReal, Missy D, Nicky Genesis, Blonde Diamond, Father Funk, The Gaff, Wet Future, and more.

Camping and event passes go on sale Friday, March 17 at 9 a.m. through
