Nanaimo singer-guitarist David Gogo and Victoria singer-pianist David Vest were triumphant Monday during the 2022 Maple Blues Awards gala at Koerner Hall in Toronto.

Gogo shared the award for acoustic act of the year with Steve Marriner, his recent tourmate and the night’s big winner. Vest, who is originally from Alabama, was named keyboardist of the year, an award he has won several times.

The 25th annual awards show was hosted by Ottawa artist Angelique Francis and included live performances by several artists, including Kat Danser, formerly of Hornby Island. Colin James, Sue Foley and Marriner were the only multiple award winners at the ceremony.

Gogo has several upcoming performances on deck in the coming days, including the Big Blue House in Courtenay on Saturday and with Chilliwack at the Port Theatre in Nanaimo on June 29. Vest will perform July 5 in Duncan for 39 Days of July and July 9 at Hermann’s Jazz Club in Victoria.
