Canada’s Got Talent will open its new season with 116 acts from across Canada, including four from the Vancouver Island area.

Nanaimo dance duo Funkanometry will compete alongside a trio of Victoria talents — operatic soprano Holly Melville, comic actor Shawn O’Hara, and comedian Maninder Waraich — for the $1-million prize when the popular reality series premieres March 19 at 8 p.m. on Citytv.

Judges Howie Mandel, Lilly Singh, Trish Stratus, Kardinal Offishall, and host Lindsay Ell will help decide who wins the biggest cash prize in Canadian television history, with additional $25,000 prizes to be delivered along the way.

Canada’s Got Talent concludes May 14 with a two-hour finale from Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ont.
