Furtado, Cummings coming to Victoria

Two storied performers with ties to the Victoria area are heading home for concerts in the coming months, it was announced Tuesday.

Pop superstar Nelly Furtado, who was raised in Victoria, kicks off her tour on Jan. 8 at Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre, the first of 13 small-venue dates across the country. The concert, in support of her new recording, The Spirit Indestructible, will be Furtado's first on local soil since 2007.

The Guess Who front-man Burton Cummings also has a new recording to promote, from which he'll play selections on Dec. 13 at the Royal Theatre. Cummings, who has a home on the Saanich Peninsula, is known to perform songs from both his solo career and his years with the Guess Who during his concerts.
