Doug Jarvis has been named executive director of Open Space after serving in the position on a temporary basis for much of the past year.
Jarvis was given a three-year term by the board of the Open Space Arts Society after leading the organization through a transitional period in 2021. The Toronto native stepped into the role of acting executive director following the death Raj Sen earlier this year.
Jarvis, a sessional instructor in the University of Victoria’s visual arts department, is well known in the city’s visual arts community and has exhibited at galleries worldwide. He will be at the helm as the second-floor gallery on Fort Street celebrates its 50th year of operation in 2022.
