Carly Rae earns music nod

Carly Rae Jepsen has won a Western Canadian Music Award for best pop recording of the year. A Mission native who studied at Victoria's Canadian College of Performing Arts, Jepsen was cited for her album Curiosity.

A Mission native who studied at Victoria's Canadian College of Performing Arts, Jepsen was cited for her album Curiosity.

The awards were presented in Regina on Sunday night. Jepsen, 26, wasn't at the WCMA ceremonies to receive her honour. The singer, who is the opening act for Justin Bieber's current tour, was performing in Las Vegas.
