After eight months of delays, a digital interactive exhibit showcasing the artwork of Vincent Van Gogh is scheduled to open in Victoria next month.

Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience is set to run June 20 until Aug. 20 at Bayview Place. The exhibit, featuring more than 300 three-dimensional works of art by Van Gogh, will be held in an acre-wide tent at Starry Night Pavilion at Bayview Place, 355 Catherine St.

The purpose-built structure has not yet been set up, but organizers Paquin Exhibition & Theatrical have been issued the required building permit, according to the City of Victoria. Beyond Van Gogh was scheduled to open in October 2022, but producers did not have the required permits to stage the event, which led to several abrupt postponements and concerns from ticketholders.

“We are happy to report we have received approval from the city to begin building our tent and look forward to opening Beyond Van Gogh June 20,” producer Justin Paquin wrote in an e-mail to the Times Colonist.

“We were excited to come to Victoria and made a few assumptions about the City of Victoria’s permitting process, which ultimately ended up being incorrect. Since then, we’ve been working closely with the city to ensure all permits and bylaws are being followed.”

Beyond Van Gogh has been staged successfully by Paquin in recent years, with productions in more than 50 cities across seven countries, including Canada, the United States and South America.

Prices start at $31.99 for adults and $23.99 for children (ages 5-15), plus ticketing fees. Ticket purchased in 2022 can be refunded or used for upcoming dates, according to Paquin. Customers can visit beyondvangogh.com for tickets.
