Get a taste of a traditional Cape Breton Christmas by attending the Barra MacNeils: An East Coast Christmas concert in Victoria or Courtenay this weekend.

The MacNeils, sometimes called Canada's first family of Celtic music, are a talented group of six siblings. While Canadian, they are one of the best-known live acts in the Celtic world.

Appearing with the Barras will be some Vancouver Island CeltFest performers: master piper René Cusson, plus a dance troupe of Highland, Irish and Cape Breton step dancers from the Glengarry School of Celtic Dance and the O'Brien School of Irish Dance.

? Saturday in Courtenay: Tickets are $45 for adults, $38.75 for students. The two-hour concert, with an intermission, starts at 7: 30 p.m. at the Sid Williams Theatre. Tickets are available online or by phone at 1-250-338-2430. Go to sidwilliamstheatre.com.
