The music of Metchosin rocker Jesse Roper made its way to prime-time Wednesday when a contestant on ABC’s American Idol sang one of Roper’s songs during his audition.

Jake Durkin of Nashville sang two songs for judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie during his Louisville audition, including Roper’s Anytime of Night. A clip of Durkin performing Roper’s 2015 song was included in a montage in the second episode of the show’s 17th season, drawing a big smile from Grammy winner Perry.

Durkin was one of 12 contestants given a Golden Ticket to Hollywood, where the second stage of auditions continues March 24 and 25.
