Victoria police ask public to use non-emergency website, phone line instead of going to station

Victoria police are asking the public to avoid its front counters at both its stations as part of efforts to deal with COVID-19. The police department has two stations -- at Caledonia Avenue in Victoria and Park Place in Esquimalt.

Victoria police are asking the public to avoid its front counters at both its stations as part of efforts to deal with COVID-19.

The police department has two stations -- at Caledonia Avenue in Victoria and Park Place in Esquimalt.

The counters may close temporarily in the coming days.

People can use the non-emergency police line at 250-995-7654 or report non-emergency incidents online at vicpd.ca/services/report-a-crime-online, police said.

Emergencies and crimes in progress should be reported by calling 911.

The police department is evaluating how it can provided services that are typically delivered via the front counter, such as information checks and taxi permits.
