Front counters closed as police reduce exposure

Victoria police announced Tuesday its front-counter service is over at its headquarters at 850 Caledonia Ave. and at the Esquimalt Division, 500 Park Pl.

Citizens are asked to make non-emergency reports or inquiries by phone or online. Emergency calls should continue to be made to 911.

Court-mandated fingerprints will be available Wednesday, March 18, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. only. Those ordered by the court should come to the front doors, and call 250-995-7654 to be escorted in.

Please specify if you have flu-like symptoms, returned from outside Canada in the last 14 days or have been in contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19.

In Nanaimo and Comox, RCMP announced a suspension of fingerprint services, including police information checks, government employee checks, visa/immigration/citizenship applications, Health Canada and criminal pardons and others.

Nanaimo RCMP will continue to conduct police information checks but without fingerprint services.

Payment in cash will not be accepted and must be credit or debit cards.

Non-emergency crimes or inquiries should be made via telephone or online.
