Cool Aid is no longer taking donations of any goods, including clothing or food, in a bid to reduce the chance of transmission during the COVID-19 pandemic.

That means the agency will no longer accept leftovers from coffee shops, bakeries and grocery stores — goods on which many low-income people depend.

Instead of giving food, Cool Aid suggests the public buy online grocery store gift cards for the vulnerable population the agency serves.

Purchases can be made at coolaid.org/giftcards.

Cool Aid continues to accept monetary donations, but asks that people do not donate in person. Donate money online at coolaid.org/donate, by calling 250-383-1977 or by mailing a cheque to Cool Aid, 101-749 Pandora Ave., Victoria B.C., V8W1N9.

Cool Aid has asked volunteers to stay away, except those with its REES Support Services program.
