More than 1,000 little ghosts and goblins enjoyed the spooky Haunted Hallway and other creepy delights at last week’s EEK the Creek Halloween event, hosted by the Roberts Creek Community Association at the Hall.

Monday, November 11 marks Remembrance Day at Legion No. 219. This is the 101st year since the end of the War to End All Wars. Gather at the Cenotaph on the front lawn beginning at 10:30 a.m. to honour those who have fallen to defend the freedom we enjoy every day. 

Friday, Nov. 8 brings another dance party to the Legion, with free door entry for women and members, $5 for guests. One Love will play danceable music with words from 9 to 11 p.m. DJ Amir will play Middle Eastern Deep House from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. 

Saturday night’s all right for Paopao’s 40 and Fabulous Party. Small in stature but big in heart, come celebrate this milestone in Paola’s trips around the sun in style at the Little Legion. Latin beats and other flavours for your dancing delight, visuals by the lovely Mieke Jay. Yay! Music at 9 p.m. See you on the dance floor! 

Also at the No. 219 is the recurring Tuesday Night Jam with A.D.D., every week from 7 to 11 p.m. 

Enjoy live theremin music at the Gumboot Café on Saturday, Nov. 9. Stephen Hamm, pivotal member of the Vancouver Music and Arts for over 25 years (Slow, Nardwuar and The Evaporators, Canned Hamm) brings his solo show to town. Based around the theremin, the instrument you don’t touch, and the synthesizer, Hamm will guide you on an electro musical journey into new abstract dimensions of sound. – a one of a kind event. Opening performance is by R.D. Cane, 7 p.m., $10 at the door. 

This week’s small businessperson is Hasu Marney Coulter, owner/director and yogi at Yoga by the Sea, above the woodworking school in the Heart of the Creek. On Monday, Nov. 11, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. you can join her for Remembrance Day Peace Meditation to honour this day in a different way. Beginning Dec. 12 through June 14 is a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training/Immersion Program. Deadline for registration is Nov. 15. The Masons are hosting a family rib barbecue at their lodge to celebrate friendship, brotherly love and Fellow Craft Degree, Saturday, Nov. 9, 3:30 to 6 p.m., corner of Roberts Creek Road and Hwy. 101.
