March 17, 1932 - March 5, 2024

It is with great sadness we announce the loss of a valued family member on March 5, 2024.

Born into the Paterson Clan in Thornliebank, Glasgow on March 17, 1932 was Patrina Boyd Paterson, loving daughter to John G. Paterson (Engineer) and Agnes (nee Hutchinson).

Leaving home at 19, she married the love of her life, William (Cully) Thomson; eventually to move to Canada in 1958, following her 'big' brother John and his family to Ontario. Followed soon after by her 'big' sister Moyra and family. Their home a welcome invitation to good food, music and lots of laughter.

Music was a huge part of their lives, with Cully playing the piano, whilst Patrina (often accompanied by family members) singing along. Dance came later, with Patrina joining the Happy Tappers, in Oakville, at 60. And representing Canada in Berlin in 1999, taking home the Gold. Later to appear on Canada's Much Music Channel. There wasn't much she was unwilling to try, even once. She would later join The Funtastics in 2012, performing until 2017; dancing and singing.

After her first husband died in 1985, she took up seeing the rest of the world, both with family members and her good friend Marg Schulcz. In 1990 she married again, only to have it sadly end in 2003, after moving to Sechelt, B.C.

In 2004, she met Maurice Farn. Despite being diagnosed with LB Dementia in 2013, managed to travel extensively, with 34 trips in 16 years.

She joined the CIBC shortly after arriving in Canada, and worked for them until 1994. She was one of the first woman bank managers in southern Ontario. Her best friend following suit. There were trailblazers.

Predeceased by Cully Thomson, Larry Dupuis, brothers Arnold, John and Scott; and sisters Eileen and Alice.

She is survived by her big sister Moyra, and sister-in-law Margaret Paterson (UK); and many immediate family members around the world. Including nephews Robert (Australia), Bruce (Creston, BC), John (Sechelt), and Scott (Glasgow); nieces Moira (Sechelt), Rosslyn (Channel Islands), Janice (Ontario), Patrina (Sechelt), Maggie (Langley), Leslie (Channel Islands), and Paula (Florida, USA) and their spouses and children. Other family members reside in Ireland.

Her ebullient personality and great sense of style endeared her to everyone she met. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family, whom she always held first in her heart.

As per her wishes, there will be no service.
