Want to head into space, Squamish?
While not all locals are destined for the moon, Squamish residents can learn about space flight and what it's like to work for NASA at a free presentation and lunch with Squamish's "NASA Jim" on Friday, Sept. 6 from 12 to 2 p.m. at The Manor, located at 38201 Third Ave.
Vancouver Coastal Health, Sea to Sky Community Services, sponsors the event and the Better at Home program.
Jim Meyer is a former U.S. space agency employee who spent 37 years supporting 165 missions into space, including Apollo 11, which saw the first humans land on the moon 50 years ago.
Meyer will be sharing his insight into the story of space flight and how far it's come since Cmdr. Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon in 1969.
The event, which is open to Sea to Sky residents, also includes a free light lunch.
